Are you a dynamic and student centred educator ready to transform the learning experience? Muswellbrook High School invites expressions of interest for the position of Big Picture Advisor commencing in 2026, with the possibility of extension.
As a Big Picture Advisor, you will mentor and guide a cohort of students through individualised, interest based learning programs, supporting up to 17 personalised projects. Advisors play a critical role in shaping student success by building strong relationships, fostering real world connections and designing purposeful learning aligned with each student’s passions.
Muswellbrook High School proudly partners with Big Picture Education Australia to deliver this innovative approach to schooling. Big Picture Learning 5 Day Foundation training will be provided to the successful applicant.

Statement of duties
- Developing, monitoring, guiding and evaluation of individual student projects.
- Assessing students via portfolio progress checks, authentic exhibitions and providing feedback via reports.
- Supporting a diverse range of students to accomplish personal priorities and support student growth and success.
Selection criteria
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with students, families, mentors and the wider community.
- Demonstrated commitment to innovative curriculum design, project based learning and ability to enrich personalised projects.
- Demonstrated ability to develop quality relationships with students, implement wellbeing programs and support the achievement of individual learning goals.
One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current Principal or supervisor for non-school-based staff. Expressions of interest must not exceed 1 1/2 pages.
