The Learning Goals have been identified because they each attend to different important ‘learning to learn’ goals of school; hence they are different. However they are not completely distinct categories.
Is it possible to be a good at empirical reasoning without being competent at quantitative reasoning?
Can one be good at social reasoning without being competent at quantitative reasoning?
Can one be good at any of the Learning Goals without being a good communicator?
Further to this, complex activities that engage students will have them doing things which attend to more than one goal at the same time.
