The attached report provides details of a three-year research project designed to evaluate the implementation of the Big Picture Design for Learning at Launceston Big Picture School. This school, established in 2016, is a stand-alone Big Picture Education Australia school for students enrolled in Years 9-12. The findings show the operations and processes at the school have evolved over time to increasingly align with both the Big Picture Design and Tasmanian Department of Education policies. The evaluation provides evidence of success for the implementation of the 12 Distinguishers of Big Picture Design. This enables improved confidence of students in their learning, and more broadly raises confidence in the effectiveness of the Design. Innovative leadership and support will enable Big Picture to continue to develop and deal with challenges identified. This will broaden community confidence in the Design facilitating expansion of further schools in Tasmania and across Australia.
