This workshop, run by Big Picture School Coaches Peta Ryan and Eric Radice, is designed to enhance the implementation of BPL and the IBPLC process throughout the senior years.

Please note: to attend this training, you should have completed the '5-Day Foundation Training'. If you have not completed this training, please contact the facilitator to discuss further.

We are excited to offer this opportunity to senior advisory teachers and school leaders to work collaboratively to better understand the possibilities of the senior years.

The 5-day workshop will comprise of a deep dive into key elements of the Big Picture Learning in the senior years which will include the:

  • Senior Project
  • Autobiography
  • Post-School Project
  • Social Action Project
  • Digital Portfolio
  • Video Profile
  • Other Qualifications

Ongoing elements of BPL - such as Learning Plans, Exhibitions, Internships, Narratives, Learning Goals - will be referenced in how they both support and enrich the student work and learning.

For each element, we will consider:

  • Core structure of each element
  • Ways of developing them both for teachers and students
  • How they link to work that students have done in previous years and to work that they may wish to do in the future
  • How each may manifest in a variety of ways to act as evidence of student achievement to support teacher judgements
  • The roles of the student, the advisory teacher, and school leaders in supporting and challenging students.

By the end of the five days, participants will:

  • Understand the key elements that make up the senior years
  • Have explored different ways of working through them with students
  • Have a clear plan for working with students to connect their experiences and work to their digital portfolio
  • View the digital portfolio as the essential connection and collection point for students to show what they know and can do
  • Understand that evidence can manifest and be presented in a variety of ways
  • Appreciate that the rigours and high expectations that exist for all senior school students in BPL remain anchored strongly in interest connected to the real world.
