A small group of older indigenous women have formed a group called Solid Women to ‘empower aboriginal women in our community’. They have had funding to research, develop and trial a short course which they have called ‘Vision for a Better Life’. This runs for a term. They have been awarded funding for two years (starting May 2009) to continue their work.

How does Big Picture Operate:

This group has a Big Picture Inspired program. As part of the application Big Picture design principles were applied to a second stage of the work. Women who complete the short course will be invited to continue their learning with the group. They will identify an interest, be linked to a mentor around that interest and explore the interest all the way through. They will continue to meet with others in the group weekly. The intention following that will be to just ‘see’ and set up connections they might want to pursue at that point hopefully through to further training and development.
