Clarence High School is a co-educational state high school located in Bellerive, a riverside suburb of Hobart. It is a year 7 to year 10 school.

The school was the first comprehensive state secondary school on the eastern shore of Hobart opening in 1959.

How does Big Picture Operate:

Clarence runs a Big Picture Inspired program. It joined Big Picture Education Australia in January 2009. The Personalised Learning program is run on four of the seven lines on their timetable. Year 9 and 10 students apply to be part of the program. They can choose to do 1, 2, 3 or 4 lines. They can choose which, or any, of their core subjects are done in this program. Two teachers and the Pathway Planning officer work with the students. While there are no advisories in the true sense of the word, class sizes range from 15 to 20.

Students do three exhibitions each year and parents are expected to attend. Over the year many students will complete a number of Shadow Days and one to three internships. 2011 is the third year of this program and as understanding of the way it works increases, the number of student applicants has increased.
