The Canberra College offers a comprehensive curriculum for students in years 11 and 12, catering for the needs of a diverse range of students in terms of academic and cultural backgrounds. The college's special programs include: the International Baccalaureate Programme; the award-winning Futures Program for students with special needs; the award-winning Canberra College Cares Program for young parents and carers and students at risk; the Big Picture Program and a program for international students.

How does Big Picture Operate:

The Canberra College has a Big Picture Inspired program for Year 11 and Year 12 students; it joined Big Picture Education Australia in 2009 with fourteen foundation Year 11 students involved in the Big Picture program. 2011 has seen the program grow in numbers in both Year 11 and Year 12 Advisories. Several families have enrolled sibli9ngs in the program of students in the pilot group and continue to voice support for the Big Picture model.

Parents have contributed reviews to the Big Picture team on the success of the program and mentors and students were involved in a Big Picture Education National Conference in May 2010. The retention rate of students in Big Picture has been, at the time of reporting, holding steady at 97% to year 12 with a high graduation rate and 45% of students graduating in 2010 accepted offers to the university of Canberra..
