Our aims
The Big Picture in Australia
The first Big Picture school in Australia
Big Picture Education Australia will create one Big Picture School in the public education system by 2009.
The school will be small by design, will work with each student one at a time in a community of learners, will be in and of the community, and will seek to have all students graduate and continue into higher learning.
Big Picture Inspired schools
There are several Australian schools inspired by the Big Picture principles.
Yule Brook College in Western Australia implemented Big Picture schooling in 2007 - Personalized learning and assessment through exhibition. By 2009, all students will work in small advisory groups.
In 2007, Woodridge High in Queensland started the "Personalised Learning and Internship" Program emphasizing the importance of "one student at a time" and parent and community involvement.
Prospect, Rosetta and Claremont High Schools in Tasmania use Big Picture ideas - internships and individual learning programs.
Teachers, students and parents can see that it works.
There are now many Big Picture inspired schools in Australia and the number is growing.
Join the conversation
Big Picture Education Australia is also committed to joining the conversation about school change.
Through our own publications and videos, writings in local and national publications, we seek to help change the conversation around education.
Schooling is everyone's business.
