Two new research briefs added to the MAP4U project

Two new research briefs have been added to the ongoing Big Picture Education Australia (BPEA) and Murdoch University Big Picture Academies Project. The Academies Project is recording the implementation process of BPEA academies so as to capture the learning involved and the influence of the design on students, teachers, and schools.

Research Brief No.3 "Framework for Analysis of the Case Studies" looks at school change, student learning at the heart and taking account of external factors, and a long term view of development. A core consideration here will be how school communities effectively implement a Big Picture academy or orientation within an established school.

Research Brief No.4 "Research Circle" is a methodological approach which will see the same group of teachers and leaders regularly meeting to document their practice and learning, share knowledge, stories, and feedback, problem solve, appreciate different perspectives and interpretations, and eventually develop a coherent understanding of their learning. Key principles of the research circle are interactivity, exploration, action learning, and reflection.
