Public Education Foundation scholarships open for applications

The Public Education Foundation has just opened the biggest ever round of scholarships for students in public schools. There are fourteen scholarship categories exclusively for students attending public schools. Our scholarships are about focusing on the different kinds of support and encouragement that individual students need.

On average the Public Education Foundation's scholarships provide students with payment of approximately $3000 to be used for educational purposes. 

The Foundation has also opened a new scholarship for principals in remote public schools: the Teachers Health Fund Leading in Remote Schools Scholarship. It provides successful applicants with targeted coaching and the opportunity to further develop their leadership skills.

Scholarships for students and principals currently open for application are listed below. Applications will close on 3 October.

 

The Medich Foundation Elizabeth H Blackburn Scholarship is for outstanding year eleven or year twelve students in western or south western Sydney interested in pursuing a career in medical science.

The Walter and Eliza Hall Trust Opportunity Scholarship provides support to students with a physical disability to make the transition from high school to tertiary study.

The Harding Miller Foundation Scholarship supports students in early high school to help them achieve their potential.

The First Seeds Scholarship provides financial support to a senior high school student in taking the first steps towards developing a successful career.

The Capital Chemist College Scholarship supports ACT students in their final year of school at a secondary college.

The Malala Yousafzai Scholarship supports hard working students in the middle years of secondary school who have a strong belief in the power of education to change lives.

The Friends of Zainab Scholarship helps support year eleven and twelve refugee students through the critical years of their Higher School Certificate and also provides financial assistance for a student's first two years of full time study.

Mamma Lena and Dino Gustin Foundation Scholarship encourages students to pursue the study of Italian language, providing winners with a six-week intensive Italian language course in Rome.

The Unions NSW Metropolitan Scholarship and The Unions NSW Rural and Regional Scholarship support outstanding NSW public school students with an interest in unionism and social justice.

The Trades & Technology Opportunity Scholarship provides financial support through years eleven and twelve to a student interested in a career in trades or technology.

The Australian Science Olympiad Summer School Scholarship provides support for eligible students to attend the prestigious Australian Science Olympiad Summer School.

The Emorgo Scholarship for Music assists a talented musician commencing study at the Conservatorium High School in Sydney.

The Patricia Long Conservatorium High School Scholarship supports a young talented musician in financial need who is attending or enrolling at the Conservatorium High School. 

The J Holden Family Trust Scholarships provide support for students commencing at the Conservatorium High School in 2015.

The Teachers Health Fund Leading in Remote Schools Scholarship

Do you know an outstanding principal in a remote government school? This opportunity might be right for them!

The Teachers Health Fund Leading in Remote Schools Scholarship provides successful applicants from remote communities with the opportunity to further develop their demonstrated skills, by way of a tailor-made leadership curriculum comprised of individual coaching support, leadership development and related resource materials.

We are grateful to our generous donor, the Teachers Health Fund, for supporting this Scholarship.

 

Family and Community Services HSC Youth Scholarship

The Family and Community Services HSC Youth Scholarship Program assists eligible young people living in social housing or on the NSW Housing Register to complete their HSC or TAFE equivalent.

Two hundred scholarships are on offer; each one consists of a one-off payment of $2,000 which is administrated by the school or TAFE College on behalf of the student.

Applications close on Friday 25 July.
