Media links for schools

We all know that great images and sound can add to your media productions.

Often schools get concerned about the copyright implications.

Thankfully there are more and more sources of copyright-free or creative commons licensed media that you can use.

http://www.archive.org/index.php - Provides links to heaps of free to use audio and video. Especially cool is the Prelinger Archive of industrial and educational video. Looking to find a promo video for nuclear shelters in the 50s? you'll probably find it here.

http://www.freesound.org/- Is a collection of user submitted sound effects and atmospheres. You'll find anything from a telephone ringing to a Porsche driving by here.

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page - The Wikipedia Commons are copyright free images used in Wikipedia, you can use them too.

http://search.creativecommons.org/ - This is a search engine powered by Creative Commons, it will find media licensed for non-commercial use.

http://vimeo.com/musicstore - This is pretty new, but has heaps of music free for non-commercial use.

http://www.sxc.hu/ - Stock exchange is a great place to find high res, high quality photos. Many of them royalty-free. (including the one above)

http://www.mobygratis.com/film-music.html - This is really cool, megastar Moby has a selection of his music available for non-commercial use, get a site login to preview tunes and request a license.
